Prospective Graduate Students
I am considering taking a new graduate student for Fall 2025
Prospective Undergraduate Research Assistants
During the academic year, research assistants (RAs) may work in the lab for 3 credit hours (120 hours/semester, which is approximately 10 hours/week) or 2 credit hours (80 hours/semester, which is approximately 7 hours/week). Tasks may include assisting graduate students with literature reviews, helping to create stimuli (lineups, mock-crime scenarios, etc), and running participants in experiments both in the lab and around the Charlottesville community. We often use Qualtrics and participant pool for our projects. Research assistants will receive training in the programs and protocols used in the lab. Students who work on the project for multiple semesters have the opportunity to take on higher level responsibilities such as leading other RAs on projects and writing a distinguished majors thesis.
You must be a UVA student to be eligible for a Research Assistant position. We give preference to Psychology and Cognitive Science majors with a GPA greater than a 3.0 and to those who can commit to the lab for more than one semester. While we value prior work experience, we also welcome those who are new to research.
If you are interested in being an RA then please contact one of my graduate students or myself:
